Riding the success of a previous health food concept, our client wanted to explore a more experimental and forward thinking project. Working with her existing network of like-minded entrepreneurs, The Confessional was to serve vegan and vegetarian junk/fast food with a healthy twist. What one would consider a ’guilty pleasure’ was no longer.  This idea grew to become a common thread throughout the space and brand.
Avoiding the use of expected finishes and colour palettes while trying not to be too experimental; The Confessional combined a range of dark textured, gloss and matte finishes accented with brand colours and neon lighting. Layers of expanded mesh were a subtle reference to church confessional booths. The kitchen and back of house layouts were an evolution of a previous layout we had implemented with our client to increase efficiency and allow for future expansion and menu flexibility.
